Imagine

Imagine of childhood days

As you approach

This creative scene.

Able to clamber

How fast to leap

Memories flood back

Image the scene.

Wood shavings

Protect the young

Safety is the strategy

No liable case

It would seem.

Thoughts of attempting

The clamber of delight

If only the joints of youth

Would come flooding back.

Alas view from a distance

Safety is my aim

Bruising is easy

As I stumble

Frequently.

As I walk away

Childhood memories

Bring a smile

Far better to be sensible

Otherwise how else

Could I describe

If I lay in a hospital bed.

And in pain.

Suzuki Jimny 4x4 SUV

Sometimes I make a wise decision and this is just one of them.  In April of this year I was looking at various vehicles, reading and viewing all the brochures as well as checking out some of the models I was interested in.

However, I kept coming back to a 4x4 suv, given the terrain of Scotland both mainland and the isles, a suv was essential (as many will testify in similar purchases).

And so I came back on the ferry with my Suzuki Jimny 4x4 and I have been delighted with it.  Of course the great all round vision of large windows is a bonus as is the heated/demist mirrors.

Equally essential is the many pot-holes on our alleged roads and with torrential rain we have had recently, leaving flooding the 4x4 comes into its own – being higher is able to glide over easily and also the mud soaked trails.

So what vehicle do you have?  and do you wish to share here with perhaps a photo.

Drover’s Trail

A trail of hardship

For those who walked

Oatmeal for feed

And whisky

For warmth.

woods4

Drover’s of many

Cattle to the mainland

And so in the cold

Of early morn

They made their way.

DSC02104

Capes of sacks

Tied with rope

When rain lashed down

Whisky their only relief.

DSC02218

Hardened of elements

Aged not they

As the Lairds lay sleeping

And maidens dreaming

The drover’s made their

Ghostly way.

DSC02213

Silence of the forest

Shadows all around

Rocks underfoot

Cattle stumbled around.

DSC02210

Mile upon mile

Slow was the pace

Year after year

The drover followed the trail.

DSC02251

As you embark upon the trail

Be not afraid at night

If you come upon

Bedraggled stranger

Voice of Gaelic

With a wee dram in hand

Smile, but be silent

Unless the cattle be startled

Upon this mist covered trail.

A Walk into the Woods

Take time out

And enter a world

Of outdoor life.

a3

Sounds and sights

Are all eager to please.

No cost to purse or wallet

Includes free parking too.

woods

Children and dogs welcome

So why not give it a try.

DSC01829

Sunshine a bonus

Rain is more obvious

Take the necessary essentials

As picnic tables are waiting.

DSC01861

No hectic pace

of busy streets

Crowded shops

And high prices too.

woods3

Nature will take care of you

Life outdoors

Breath the clean air

Feel the breeze

Just take in the sights.

Gaze Upon

I gaze upon

This majestic might

Water overflowing

Is quite a

Frightening sight.

DSC02078

From a distance

The roar can be heard

From a waterfall

High up

Sometimes

In the clouds.

From my vantage point

Overlooking the falls

My gaze looks over

The Sound of Mull

Peaceful on this day.

DSC02075

This shelter of wood

Brand new

A vantage point

For all who visit

Even those

Less mobile too.

I gaze out upon

The hills

Distant and alone

Like ‘I’

They stand out

But they also

Stand firm.

A cool breeze

A welcome relief

As the heat of the day

Makes it difficult to breathe.

One can sit here alone

For many an hour

Admire the scene

Tranquil of night.

Astronomers dream.

DSC02073

As days of sunshine

Now increase

The outdoors

Are calling

As I gaze upon

An island scene.

Historic Scotland

Scottish land

Barren and cold

Soaked of blood

As those brave of clan

Took shield and sword

Defend their motherland

Ruins of castles

And homes

Testify this land

Statues of nobility

Stare down upon the grave.

aberdeen

Harshness of weather

Hardy are the folk

Continue of battle

As the weather

Takes it toll.

As you visit

This barren land

Remember the red soil

Underfoot

For it is

The souls

Of the brave

Ever watchful

Such is their pride

Of this blood soaked land.
